Tunnel Club are Stephen Key and Graeme Stoker, two electronic musicians from Newcastle in the North East of England who have been producing and DJing together under various guises since they first met at college in 1989. Their music doesn’t try to fit into any particular sub-genre of electronic music – Tunnel Club are simply making great tunes that acknowledge their musical roots whilst looking optimistically forwards.
Having received extensive airtime from BBC Introducing for their first 3 releases as well as support from an eclectic range of DJ's including Lost Idol and Mixcloud legend Ms Skyrym this was followed by From The Old School, their debut album which was released in June 2016 on their own Tunnel Club Music label. The album received great feedback from a variety of sources including local magazines like NARC (4/5 'A mighty and memorable listen') and techno legends like Mark Archer of Nexus 21/Altern8 fame ('I was very very pleasantly surprised how good this album is, reminded me a lot of the first Future Sound Of London album Accelerator and it captures that style of 90/91 perfectly, it'll deffo be getting a lot of plays from me!')
Fast forward into 2017 and the duo are taking the tunes to the stage for the first time, looking to take their uplifting sound to the North East's discerning electronic ears with a series of shows across Newcastle Upon Tyne. We are proud to be part of the NE Festival roster and can't wait to showcase our set at a really great event for the North East electronic scene.
