That's ambition,
Lubricating the skin between us,
Ambition without understanding,
But ambition all the same,
There's noises,
Occupying frequencies,
Where once silence kept me sane,
Barely voiced parables,
Meekly sneaking beyond hostile lips.
Discerning who's to blame,
That's ambition
Igniting the air between us,
Burning our understanding,
Challenging one another for pride of place,
That's ambition,
Walking hand in hand with passion.
Testing new roads,
Presenting new stakes,
Each unearthed consequence,
No longer met with indecision,
Nor the kneejerk reaction of an unwelcome embrace.
And then I let go
Honed my ambition and now passion takes its place,
There's electricity
occupying the space around me,
igniting my understanding,
meeting life face to face,
And old ghosts
take on the form of new challenges,
Self doubt now retrograde,
As if all at once the weight of the world shifted,
In to a kinder state.
That's ambition,
Packed out in passages on pages past,
That's ambition
Signposted in images etched a lifetime away,
That's ambition,
Spoken in tongues I barely remember,
That's ambition
Translated loosely by association,
That's ambition,
Filling in the gaps between us,
That's ambition
Forging new possibilities,
That's ambition,
Lubricating the space between the skin between us,
That's ambition
Ambition only for understanding
That's ambition,
New challenges pride of place
That's ambition,
Illuminating, the air between us,
That's ambition.
